Although all of these characteristics helped civilizations develop, disease was also carried along the Silk Road. The Silk Road exchanged culture, art, religion, philosophy, technology, language, science, and architecture. This, in turn, helped shape the development of world civilizations. From China, Japan, and Korea through India and the Middle East all the way to Turkey and Italy People who managed to travel some or all of the Silk Road sprinkled their culture along the way.
